![SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA. All parts of the district have been regularly visited and inspected by me. Water Supply, The water supply has been satisfactory and there has been no serious pollution of rivers or streams 0 Samples of water from the public and other supplies have been frequently analysed, S owe rage and Drai n ago The public systems remain the same and have worked satisfactorily. Good progress has been made in the Alresford scheme. Some nuisances have occured in the West End parish from overflowing cesspools, and are bound to recur occasionally until we are able to proceed with the sewerage system which had to be postponed Prevalence of, and Control over. Infectious and other Diseases The following table gives particulars of cases of infectious disease notified, excluding Tuberculosis, for which a separate table is given:- Scarlet Fever.................... All cases of infectious disease, with the exception of measles and whooping cough have been personally visited and advice given as to the necessary precautions to be taken. Measles and Whooping Cough. Measles and whooping cough were prevalent throughout the year and there were two deaths from each of these diseases. Several severe cases were removed to Hospital for treatment. Scarlet Fever, The 51 cases notified were spread out in various parts of the District and there was no serious outbreak. Diphtheria Only 5 isolated cases were notified none of which had been immunised.
