![early life; one side of the pelvis becoming developed, whilst the other retains its infantile proportions. OBLIQUELY OVATE PELVIS. Mensuration of the Pelvis. — The only practicable mode of measurement is by means of the fingers or hand. If, when one or two fingers be passed into the vagina, the promontory of the sacrum can be felt, it is a sign that the conjugate diameter is pre- ternaturally diminished. In a similar manner, the oblique and coccy-pubic diameters may be deter- mined. A notion of the size of the pelvis may also to a certain extent be formed by examining the shape of the bones externally, by means of the hand. —J. M.
