    INTRODUCTION The Child Welfare Information Centre is publishing a series of documents under the description : Legislative and Administrative Series. As far as its resources allow, it endeavours to keep the Advisory Committee on Social Questions and the authorities appointed by the Govern- ments as correspondents informed of the legislative and administrative progress made in the different countries in the sphere of maternal and child welfare, and of the train- ing and status of social workers specialising in that sphere. At the end of each year, the Information Centre prepares a summary of the documents published in the series during the preceding twelve months; the present Summary is the second so far published. The various texts are classified under subjects and the subjects themselves are arranged in alphabetical order. In Appendix II, however, will be found a classification by countries. | ‘ *s * * The following are the headings used in classifying the material : 1. ADOPTION The two enactments reported both facilitate adoption. That relating to the territory for the seat of Government in Australia establishes the possibility of and lays down conditions for adoption, while that for the United States of Mexico encourages adoption by lowering the age at which persons may become adoptive parents. 2.
