    7.2ASSOCIATION WITH UNCERTIFIED WOMEN PRACTISING AS MIDWIVES. Whereas it has been made to appear to the Council that certain registered medical practitioners have, from time to time, by their countenance or assistance or by issuing certificates, notifications, or other documents of a kindred character enabled uncertified persons to attend women in child-birth otherwise than under the direction and personal supervision of a duly qualified medical practitioner contrary to law ; And whereas such conduct is in the opinion of the Council discreditable to the profession of medicine. and calculated to defeat the purpose of the statutes made in the public interest for the protection of mothers and infants : Notice is hereby given that any registered practitionér who is proved to have so offended will be liable to have his name erased from the Medical Register. Government of Burma, Public Health Department Notification No. 49, dated the 24th April 1931. The following addition to the rules published in Public Health Department Notification No. 109, dated the 6th November 1930, which has been made_ by the Medical Council under sub-section (1) of section 26 of the Burma Medical Act, 1915, and confirmed by the Govern- ment of Burma under sub-section (2), is published for general information under sub-section (3) of the said section :—- , The following shall be added as Rule 1164 :— “116a. The contravention by a Registered Medical Practitioner of the provisions of the Opium Act, 1878, or the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1930, and the Rules and Regulations made thereunder, may be the subject of criminal proceedings, and any conviction resulting there- from may be dealt with as such by the Burma Medical Council under the powers given by section 21 of the Burma Medical Act, 1915. Butany contravention of the Acts or Regulations involving an abuse of the privileges conferred thereunder upon Registered Medical Practitioners whether such contravention has been the subject of criminal proceedings or not, will, if proved to the satisfaction of the Council, render a Registered Medical Practitioner liable to have his name removed from the register.” SIMPLE CODE OF MEDICAL ETHICS. The following simple Code of Medical Ethics adopted by the Burma Medical Council is published as recommended for observance of all Registered Medical Practitioners in Burma :— 1. The dignity of the profession of medicine should be maintained on all occasions ; the following and similar practices which tend to lower its dignity should be avoided :— (a) Soliciting private practice, either personally or by advertisement in the news- papers, by placards, or by the distribution of circulars, cards or hand- Bilis: (b) Deriving pecuniary profit from the sale of any secret Ramey: (c) Renting a consulting room at a chemist’s shop. (d) Entering into any compact with a pharmacist to receive a share in the profits . arising from the sale of medicines prescribed, or medical or surgical appliances. (e) Publishing or sanctioning the publication of reports of cases or operations or ee of ya from patients in non-professional lbbaadiion or pronenals:
