![question that this interesting form, simply represents a family, and probably a very old family of the psittacine group of birds. Explanation of Plates. [The figures in Plates XXI-XXIII are all from photographs made by the author direct from the specimens, those of Conurus being in his own collection, and the others from specimens belonging to the United States National Museum. The skeleton of the Owl Parrot (Strigops habroptilus Gray) was photographed by Professor T. W. Smillie of the U. S. National Museum, and is specimen No. 18,276 of the osteological collections of that institution, it having been obtained at Dusky Sound, N. Zealand, a number of years ago. ] Plate XXI. Fig. 1.
