Biographical note
Henry Herbert Southey became physician to Middlesex Hospital in 1817, physician-in-ordinary to George IV in 1823, metropolitan lunancy commissioner in 1828 and Gresham professor of medicine from 1834-1865. He was the brother of Robert Southey the poet laureate.
