![Case 5.—Fanny Sharpe, set. 17, press-worker, 9 court, Upper Tower-street, was admitted a home patient of the Birmingham Dispensary, January 30, 1037. Ten days ago, being in good health, was seized with rigors; heats and chills then alternated ; bowels were excessively confined ; a violent pain in the head soon came on, which spread to the neck, back and limbs; in about five days a cough came on. Jan. 30. Feels much worse; has fainted twice; headache is intolerable; a great deal of cough with soreness of chest; tongue coated; has a bad taste in the mouth; anorexia; thirst; nausea; bowels still confined; pulse 110, sharp; skin dry. No sleep; cough and headache violent; re- spiration 20, natural; expectoration difficult. [Perstet et hubeat Morphiie Muriat. gr. omni nocte.] 5. Headache better; feels very thirsty; no appetite. [Mist. Salrn. c. Oxym. Scillce.} Soon convalescent. Similar to these cases were twenty-eight others: viz. 10 males, aged 2, 0, G, 13, 19, 19, 28, 35, 30, 37, 40, 45, 50, 50, 51, 00; and twelve females, aged 3, 10, 10, 10, 18, 22, 29, 34, 39, 42, 43, GO. But there is one which stands alone' and which I shall now detail. Case. 0.—Margaret Parsons, cet. 40, housewife, 9 court, St. George-street, was admitted a home patient of the Birmingham Dispensary, February 3rd, 1837. Being previously in good health, was seized, on the 27th of January, with cold perspirations and great faintness, suc- ceeded by aching pains in the limbs and some little headache; a slight soreness of the chest came on the next day, with a cough and the expectoration of clear mucus.
