By the same Act the responsibility for Treatment Centres and Hospitals was transferred to the newly created South East Regional Hospital Board. This resulted in two former L.C.C. General Hospitals being made available to patients from this district; these were :— Joyce Green Hospital. Staffed accommodation 300, unstaffed accommodation 800 Southern Hospital. „ „ 260, „ „ 1,400 The Ambulance Services in 1948 were adequate. Staffed hospital accommodation for eases of tuberculosis and for the aged sick were inadequate. MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE. On July 5th the responsibility for Riseley Maternity Home was transferred to the South East Regional Hospital Board and that of the remainder of the Maternity and Child Welfare Services was transferred to the Kent County Council. Ante-natal Clinics. One Clinic was held each week at Riseley, the remaining Clinics were held fort- nightly. In January arrangements were made for the Stone Clinic to be conducted by the midwife and myself instead of by the midwife alone as formerly.
