In commenting on causes of death, reference may be made to: d'uberculosis caused ‘d deaths as comp)ared with S in the previous year. There were 105 deaths from Cancer, now a serious cause of fllness, of which d() were of the lung or bronchus. Diseases attributed to old age caused d54 deaths and bronchitis 30 deaths, the latter including 19 men. It may be of interest to note that in 195() the death rate of bron- chitis in this country was IH times higher than in Scandinavia and 11 times more than in the U.S.A. This complaint caused dO.4 million days of incapacity for men and O.d million for women in a year. There were seven fatal road accidents, 0 of which occurred in the Borough.
