It may do very well for hot-houfe pra6tiGe in the Weft Indies, where Cowhage grows in plenty^ However, as there muft be by fuch means, a great deal of • wafte^ efpecially if the pods- be not quite . ripe (for unlefs they are, the fetae do not fo readily come off) it v/ill be more eligible, in this part of the world, to proceed with a little more oeconomy* When a fmall quantity is to be prepared^ the befl way will be, firffc to oil your fingers,- which will defend them from the irritation of fuch fpiculs as come off, in handling the pods—for, take what care you will, the hairs or fpiculae are fo light, that they ]By about and torment the fkin wherever they come in contad with it,- unoiled.
