![The balance between these figures gives a recorded death rate of ]1.7, and this is the rate which has always been returned. In order, however, to compare fairly the death rate of Nuneaton with that of England and Wales as a whole, the age and sex distribution of each must be the same. For this purpose, the Registrar General has supplied, to each district, a factor, in the case of Nuneaton it is greater than Unity, being 1.0564. This, when multiplied by the recorded death- rate gives the Corrected or Standardized Death-rate. It will be seen that the age and sex distribution of Nuneaton is favourable to a low Death-rate.
