About this work

Description

Sue Broom investigates the realm of genetic engineering in farm animals. She visits the Ocean Sciences Centre in Canada where the genetically engineered salmon they are producing is likely to be the first genetically engineered animal product likely to reach our supermarket shelves. She then speaks to a range of scientists who have experimented with creating transgenic animals and we meet some 'enviro-pigs' also invented in Canada whose saliva has been genetically modified meaning that they are less likely to produce phosphorous manure.
