Vital Statistics.—During the quarter 1,331 live-births were reported giving a birth-rate of 421 per mille of population against 47*0 in the previous quarter. The deaths registered numbered 879 with a death-rate of 27’8 against 28*3 in the preceding quarter. The infant deaths totalled 203, the infant mortality rate being 152*5 as com¬ pared with 123‘9 in the previous quarter. Epidemic Diseases.— One attack and one death from plague were reported. The city was free from small-pox and cholera. Eleven anti-cholera inoculations were done. Of 3,888 vaccinations done 1,766 were primary and 2,122 were re-vaccinations. Thirty-four houses were disinfected and 32 wells were chlorinated. Influenza.—Four cases of influenza were reported. Typhoid .—Six fatal cases of typhoid were reported. Twenty anti-typhoid inoculations were done. Stray Dogs.—Four hundred and ninety-nine stray dogs were destroyed during the quarter.
