Peactically, this translation represents a new edition, a considerable amount of new matter which did not appear in the fifth German edition, haying heen added hy Pro- fessor Binz, and a number of errors which occurred in the latter having been corrected. [^Tearly the whole of the proof sheets have been read and revised by Professor Binz. I am personally responsible for the introduction of the preparations of the British and United States Pharma- copceias, of those drugs which are peculiar to these Pharmacopoeias, and are not officinal in Germany, and of all articles or paragraphs enclosed in square ( [ ] ) brackets.
