    restorations in the text are due, suggests that the scene is Italy, and that Astyoche, who with her sisters Aethylla and Medesicaste was among the captive Trojan women, is exhorting her fellow-slaves to set fire to the Greek ships ; cf. Tzetz. ad Lycophr. 931, 1075. This is attractive, if rather difficult to reconcile with recto 12-15. The style indicates the Alexandrian origin of the poem. The papyrus is written in a small, sloping uncial hand which may be referred with little hesitation to the third century, to which also belong a number of cursive documents with which this fragment was found. The handwriting is very similar to that of ccxxxiii, which is of the same period. No stops or lection signs occur, with the exception of the diaeresis. Recto.
