About this work

Description

A transmission electron micrograph showing a cross section through a skeletal muscle fibre. The cell (fibre) contains numerous myofibrils, seen here as groups of regularly arranged small dark dots. The cell is seen in transverse section (cross section). The only organelles that are obvious in this cell are the nucleus and numerous small mitochondria.
