    REPORT OF THE BOARD OF MANAGEMENT FOR THE YEAR 1931. The year 1931 has been a momentous one in the history of the Hospital for many reasons, as we hope, will be evident from this Report. As regards the Patients treated by the Hospital, there has been an increase in the numbers of both In-Patients and Out-Patients, a fact which points, we tnink, to the sustained confidence in the Hospital of the people of the County, and which is also a strong argument in favour of the retention of such an institution, and of its necessity. Statistics as to the admission and discharge and treat¬ ments of Patients will be found on pages 15 and 16. For the first time for 8 years, owing largely to legacies and special donations, there has been an excess of income over expenditure, and the Hospital is in the happy position of starting 1932 with a credit balance. The Income and Expenditure Account is set out on page 8 and the following pages. As an augmentation to the services of Dr. Griffiths, for whose devoted interest over a period of 30 years the Hospital is duly grateful, the Medical Staff recently approached five of the most eminent Surgeons and Physicans in Cambridge, with the result that Dr. H. B. Roderick, Dr. Leslie Cole, Dr. J. R. Campbell Canney, Dr. A. S. H. Walford and Dr. J. W. C. Graham have most generously consented to act as visiting Consultants, and to place voluntarily their interest, time, knowledge and skill at the disposal of Patients in this Hospital. It is difficult to express adequately the thanks of the Hospital to these gentlemen, but we have every confidence that their action will be deeply appreciated and will give an added stimulus to the life of the Hospital. With regard to the building and its equipment, here again we are able to report extensive and important progress. The Entrance Lobby to the Operating Theatre has been enlarged and extended in such a way that there is now, close to the Theatre, an Anaesthetic Room and a Surgeons’ Dressing Room.
