In Elstree the principal occupations are industrial, more par- ticularly the film studios and allied industries, photographic processing, knitting mills, electrical accessories and light engin- eering. Elstree is to some extent residential, particularly on the west side of the L.M.S. Railway line. On the East side of the L.M.S. Station, in the Boreham Wood portion of the parish, considerable development has taken place. A number of new factories were erected immediately prior to and during the war.
