    The Regional Picture Differences between area and area are marked. The Friesian type dominates now in all areas, but to a far lesser extent in the south than elsewhere, for in this area the Channel Island breeds are an important component. There are, however, some broad distinctions between the main geographical areas and a division of the country into three areas illustrates these distinctions.
