A brief history of the wars, revolutions, and events which gave rise to all the marine discoveries and foreign acquisitions made by the modern Europæans. III. A survey of the knowledge and opinions, which the Europæans had of the earth in times preceding these discoveries; with other matters relating to this subject. IV. The particulars of the progress made by the Portuguese, from their beginning these discoveries, to the death of King John II, and an account of the grants made to the Kings of Portugal of the countries that were or might be discovered, by the bulls of several popes, with one of them set forth at large.
