Now the result of the mtroduction of Mission- aries of the Christian religion has been that the Hmdoo (educated) gives up his belief in the existence of his own gods and their miracles, but equally firmly refuses to believe the miracles of the Christian rehgion, and so he becomes a Vedant—that is, a Deist. was very much surprised when I told him the Roman Catholic religion and the Protestant were the same thmg; however, he ended by being of my opmion, remarking, Yes, the difference is m the quantity, but not m the quahty.
