![[ * ] erally preceded by vomiting, cold ficenfs, and con- u ■■ iometimes it runs into an her iplcgia or legia : when this happens, there is pretty gen- eially a lofs or the internal fenfes, as of the mem- ory accompanied with fatuity &c. and it does fome- times happen, that it terminates in perfect health ; but this is not a frequent occurrence. And as the difeafe may depend on two different ftates of action in the fyfiem, either tonic or ; the method of preventing the fits, mufl ulated according as one or other of thefe fhould happen to prevail; as well as a'due attention likewife to the predifponent and exciting caufes. Therefore all thofe perfons who are of a full and plethoric habit of body, mould pay particular Lfcion to fobriety in eating and drinking; they ihould attend alfo ftrictly to the quantity and qual- ity of their aliment, and mould always be careful oid overloading their flomachs with food at anytime, but at fupper- it mould be particularly abitained from altogether. Thofe who have hab- :A themselves to eating fupper, it might Ir. improper for them to leave it off all at once ; lore, their food either animal or vegetable, Id be in fmall quantities, light and of cafy on. If the patient has been accuftomed to drink wine or other fpirituous liquors of any kind,he fhquldnot abftain from them immediately; but muit ufethem with great moderation, and it may not be improper to dilute them with water.
