Wien, 8 October 1879, [translation.] I HEREBY certify that Dr. Thomas Barr, of Glasgow, attended my classes on theoretical and practical Aural Surgery in June and July, 1878, and that he practised operations on the ear in my clinique. Dr. Barr at that time displayed very great manual dexterity, and showed likewise during the continuance of our connection, as well as afterwards by his scientific publications on this subject, that not only did he possess a sound knowledge of general medicine and surgery, but that he was also imbued with the true spirit of the specialist.
