![The Assembly Shop, Cabinet-making Department. At Papworth we have our Parish Council, our Horticultural Society with its summer and autumn shows, our Nursing Association with its Women’s Library, the Wesley Guild, W.E.A. classes, the Dramatic Club, the Old Time Dance Club, the Billiards and Snooker League, the Youth Club, Red-Cross Cadets, Army Cadets and so forth. The various residential hostels have their social clubs and libraries and hardly a week passes without some dramatic or musical entertainment provided by friends of Papworth. In particular we are indebted to the following for their generous help during 1947: The Cambridge Brotherhood Band for their annual Christmas-morning carol concert ; Mrs. Norris for “Stars in Variety,’’ St. Columbia’s Church, Cambridge; and the Army Entertainment Service for ward shows ; The Army Kinema Corporation and the the Central Office of Information, also Mr. Cunningham, Cambridge, for ward film shows; Miss Alice Reynolds and the “Variety Highlights’’ ; Miss Joan Metcalfe and her “Aladdin’’ Company ; St. Ives A.D.C. for “Grumpy’’ ; Mr. Wilfred Pinney and his friends for “While the Sun Shines’’ ; The Rev. E. K. Payne, the Catholic Chaplain, for concerts of recorded music ; The British Council for “Intimate Opera’’. We were also pleased to welcome, and provide the theatre for, the competing teams for the Cambs. Drama Festival Area Finals. T. C. M. JOHNSON.
