    MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE SERVICES East Retford Corporation is the Maternity and Child Welfare Authority for the Borough. A Maternity and Child Welfare Centre is maintained at Wharf Road, where clinics are held as hereunder Mondays Tuesdays Wednesdays I'hursdays Babies up to 18 months old. Ante-Natal. Babies up to 18 months old. Children 18 months to 5 years. At these clinics mothers are advised regarding the care of their infants while expectant mothers receive advice on diet, exercise, etc., and are medically examined by the Medical Officer, in order to ascertain whether they are progressing satisfactorily. Infant foods and vitamin products are also available for purchase at cost price. Dental treatment is available through the clinic for expectant and nursing mothers and young children. Facilities are also available for Orthopaedic cases to be re- ferred to the Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Worksop and District Cripples’ Guild Clinic, Worksop. 32 children attended this clinic during the year, making in all 141 attendances. Ophthalmic cases can be seen, by appointment, by an Oph- thalmic Surgeon in Sheffield, and during 1945, four cases have been examined bv him. Children suffering from enlarged tonsils and adenoids are dealt with at the Retford and District Hospital. The number who have received treatment during the year being ten. During the year two cases of complicated pregnancy have been seen by the Obstetric Specialist in Sheffield.
