It is a circumflance of great mo¬ ment to our general delign, to know that as the focal point is ever beyond the agent, fo the decuffation of the rays of lightcannever happen within the body of the medium. For we have already remark’d in the fixth propolition, that the rays of light cannot diverge till they have paffed the focal dif~ tance. Now the focal point is always with¬ out the medium, confequently the rays of light muff always decuffate without the body of the medium alfo.
