Miscellaneous letters and papers of John Robert Morrison and of John Robert Morrison, deceased. 1825-60. Included are letters from his half-brother, Charles M. Morrison (1832-1852) and his sister Mary Rebecca Morrison (1812-1903), obituaries, a copy of his will, and letters concerning the settlement of his estate and that of his father the Revd. R. Morrison.

 The manifesto, announcing the Chinese willingness to treat for a peaceful solution to the 'Opium Wars', was originally published in the Friend of China 10 Sept [1842]. The wrapper identifies J. R. Morrison as the author of the statement whilst attached to British forces during the campaigns of 1840-42
