No text description is available for this image![Fruition (artha-tattiva). The specific entities ( Viseshas) Sound &c., and Space and the rest, con¬ stitute the Gross form of the Elements. Akdsatwa (the characteristic of akasa), Vayuttva and the like are the natural forms of the Elements. The 2jrimary Elements of Sound and the rest (Sabdddi- tcmmdtrd) constitute their subtile form. Anwayct (Concomitance) is that which follows ; and as such Frakriti or Nature, constituted by the three Attri- n butes, Sattioa Rajas and Tamas, constitutes the form of the Elements, called Amoaya. And (lastly) the purpose iof the Spirit—experience and Libera¬ tion—based on the Attributes, constitutes their fifth p gg artha-vattica. When with regard to the Elements constituted by the aforesaid five forms, there arises Sanyama ending in direct perception (of the object), there results a Perfection consisting in the victory over the elements in their aforesaid forms;—says the aphorism :—“ From Sanyama with regard to Gross¬ ness, Nature, Subtlety, Concomitance, and Fruition, (results) victory over the elements” [ Yoga-Siitra III—44]. ‘Victory’ consists in the elements being under the power of the Agent,—that. is functioning in accordance with his desires.
