![readily if properly managed; let them be well ripened before they are taken off; then cut them at a joint, and plant them in pots of sand, without shortening jiny of tlie leaves, except on the part that is phinted in the sand, where they should be tiikcn od\uite chise, the less depth they are planted in the pots the better, if they only stand firm, when the sand is well closed round them : then place them under hand-glasses in the propagating hcmse, but not plunge them in heal, the glasses must be frequently taken off to give them air, and dry them, or they are apt ti> damp off; when they are rooted, the sooner they are potted off in small pots the better, as the sand is liable to canker their roots, if left too Icmg in it; when potted off they should be placi d in a close frame, but not on heat, as a bottom-heat will destroy their roots, vi’hen they must be hardened to the air by degrees. Plants raised in this way have better roots, grow faster, and flower sooner, than plants raised fn>m seeds: in raising them from seeds, they should be Sown in the same kind of soil as the plants are grown in, and placed in the greenhouse, or if it is in summer they will come up sooner, if placed out in thedpenair; they will soon make tlieir appearance, when they should be potted off in small pots, for if left in the seed pots too long they ar-e apt to die, and are more difficult to move with safety.’* Sijno- n^ymes: 1- B. ledijbtia, B. littoralis. ....
