Early recognition of the last-named condition is most important, as operation very soon becomes impossible if the cancer is allowed to o-row for anv length of time. The nasal cavity should also be carefidly examined, in such cases, for possible exostoses below the lachrymal sac or the lower orbital margin and in the tem])oi'al region (see Fig. F). If the antrum of Highmore is tilled ivith cancerous tissue, the respiratory murmur will be heard much better with the stethoscojie at that point than over the sound side.
