    happily taken early in the sumrnei to keep the reservoirs filled, and with the aid of the Abyssinian tubes all the exigencies of the Asylum were met. The “ dry earth” system is being adapted to an important section of the Asylum, and may at a future time bo still further extended. This will greatly economise the consumption of water, which in a season of drought must be very appreciable. Complaints have been made by the local authorities that the sewage from the Asylum polluted an adjoining stream. The Visiting Justices have held several conferences in the matter, and arrangements have been mutually determined on to obviate all further cause of annovance. «/ No further steps have yet been taken to make a separate provision for epileptics. The Commissioners in Lunacy now recommend an entirely detached building. The Visitors are of opinion that the present accommodation for this class, with perhaps some modification in the existing arrangements, may be made to meet all needed requirements. Anyhow they have not yet determined to recommend such extension. The Visitors have every reason to speak with confidence and gratification of the manner in which the various officers continue to discharge their respective duties in this Asylum. EDWD. D.
