    nfs for the Household, —<S0a > Crickets and Beetles (to Kill). {1) Scrape Carrots and mix with Red Lead. (2) Sprinkle Keating’s Insect Powder on the floor. Bugs (to Kill). Wash floors with strong Soda Water, or Salt and Blue Soap. Soak a rag with Turpentine and leave in the rooms. They detest the smell of Carbolic Soap. Flies (to Kill). Scald some Quassia Chips and put on a plate. Rats and Mice. Sprinkle plenty of Cayenne or Camphor in the holes, and they will soon disappear. White Wine Vinegar. To make, add one ounce of Acetic Acid to quart of water. Knife Handles (to Fix). Mix together four parts of Resin, one of Beeswax and one Plaster of Paris or Brickdust. Fill the handle, heat the spike of knife, and insert. Baking Powder (to make). Mix together eight ounces Tartaric Acid, nine ounces Carbonate of Soda and ten ounces Rice Flour. Men’s Clothes (to clean). Rub vigorously with a sponge or woollen cloth: Two parte Spirits of Wine and one part Ammonia. Carpets and Woollen Goods. Use above Mixture. lronmoulds. To remove, rub spots with a little Powdered Oxalic Acid or Salts of Lemon and warm water.
