The total income excluding opening balance, thus, showed an increase of Rs. 2,92,372 or 5 *5 per cent, and the total receipts including the opening balance, a decrease of Rs. 1,32,988 or 0-9 per cent, over the previous year. The average incidence of taxation per head of population also rose from Rs. 3-6-4 in 1937-38 to Rs. 3-7-7 in 1938-39. (h) Mimici'pal expenditure.—The total expenditure (excluding extraordinary and debt) in 1938-39 was Rs. 1,05,19,508 against Rs. 1,03,83,300 in the previous year, showing an increase of Rs. 1,36,208 or 1 -3 per cent.
