    Compared with the previous year, the expenditure decreased m 1938-39 under the following heads:—Conservancy, water-supply, dis¬ posal of dead bodies (including burial ground and burning ghat charges) and registration of births and deaths. The total expenditure on sanitary works in 1938-39 showed a decrease of Rs. 40,828 or 0*8 per cent. The aggregate expenditure incurred by some of the muni¬ cipalities during the year 1938-39 on certain subsidiary heads is shown below : — 1937-38 1938-39. Rs. Rs.
