![HOUSING STATISTICS, Continued. Proceedings under Public Health Acts :— (1) Number of dwelling-houses in respect of which notices were served requiring defects to be remedied 503 (2) Number of dwelling-houses in which defects were remedied after service of formal notices :— {«) By owners 503 nil. (b) By Local Authority in default of owners SUPERVISION AND INSPECTION OF MEAT AND OTHER FOODS Sampling under Fo od and Drugs Acts, etc. In carrying out the inspection of food the following visits were made to premises where food is prepared, stored or sold, viz : Slaughterhouses Butchers Shops Sausage making ]:)remises Miseellaneous shops, stores, markets, etc. Canteens and British Restaurants Dairies 1571 325 113 1647 118 84 Slaughter houses. Slaughtering is carried on in three slaughterhouses under the control of the Ministry of Food. From these slaughterhouses meat is allocated to Southamj^ton, Eeastleigh and })arts of adjoin¬ ing rural districts. 27,139 animals were slaughtered during the year. Every carcase and its offal was examined by a qualified meat Inspector at the time of slaughter or before it left the slaughterhouse.
