$the pei’idenn are of a deep umber-brown colour. The inside of the bark is of an uinbef-brown colour, and has a close satin-like surface marked with very fine striae. It has a close fracture, shghtly fibrous in the liber portion. Odour aromatic and spicy, I'ecalling sassafras and camphortaste agreeably spicy and camphoraceous. Austealasian Colonies. OXYMEL. URGIKE^. Oxymel of Urginea. Urginea, braised Acetic Acid . Distilled Water IMPERIAL 21 ounces fl. ounces . 8 fl. ounces . METRIC 75 grammes (75 cubic 1 centimetres 1240 cubic 1 centimetres Claiified Honey, | ^ ^ sufficient quantity liquefied ) Digest the Urginea for seven days in a mixture of the Acetic Acid and Distilled Water. Press strongly; filter. Mix the filtrate, which should measure approximately ten fluid ounces (or three hundred cubic centimetres), with about twenty-seven fluid ounces (or eight hundred and ten cubic centimetres) of the Clarified Honey, or sufficient to produce Oxymel of Urginea having the specific gravity 1-320.
