I have removed quite a bit of what I said but please do not hesitate to remove more oí it. In one or two cases Ì am now quite unable to decide what ] was saying.' The only part that has caused me some difficulty is a discussion after McConnell's talk, starting on page 165 going down to the middle of page 168. As I recall it, I had to work very hard to <?et Me Gonne 11 to give a simple answer to Changeux*s question at the top of page 165. It was my impression that I had, in fact, succeeded but unfortunately the transcript does not contain McConnell's answer. All he is recorded as saying is, 'It depends on how hard you watch it, i feel the whole of this passage could be reduced to a few lines and you should try and persuade McConnell to write a simple answer to Changeux's question and delete all the intermediate discussion. Jn one or two cases I have not given the references you asked for because they could be more conveniently given by other people when the topic was first mentioned. However, if it turns out that one or two additional references are required, I will try to supply them. My impression reading the transcript is that I was rather tired by the third day and consequently did not say as much, but perhaps that was all to the good.' In any case, í enjoyed the meeting and I think most of the others did as well. Best wishes, yours sincerely, F. H. C.
