About this work

Description

Transmission electron micrograph showing fungal hyphae in the anterior chamber of the eye (bottom of picture). Descemet's membrane is in the centre of the picture and behind this is the posterior corneal stroma with many polymorphonuclear leucocytes. The fungal hyphae are penetrating across Descemet's membrane and the infection has caused the destruction of the corneal endothelial monolayer. The hyphae are approximately 1-2nm in diameter.
