    (if) MEAT AM) FOOD INSPHTTION As in previous years, the Blaughtoring of animla for human oonavkmgpt- ion v/as carried out at the Central SLaughterhouae, situate in the Borough of Bridlington, and the inspection of the caroasce wac undortakon hy tho Sanitary Inspectors to the Bri<llington CJorporatton* This arrangement, however, has not done away with tho swpervision of neat and food shops, and 125 inspections were oarried out in this oarxcBotion# As a result, it v/ae found neoessaiy to condemn 22 tins of milk, 14 tins of Beans and 7 tins of fish, as being unfit for human oqnsucption (5) SHOPS APTS Most of tho shops in the area are run by ofmer-oocupiera, and l»vo sufficient and satisfactory sanitary aooonrnodation. The larger shops are visited periodically, and 43 visits and irjspoot* ions were made during the year to ascertain the adequacy and condition of the sanitary aocoramodation# (^) WATER SUPPLIES AM) SUPERVISION OP WATERTOBKS In connection v4.th the water supplies for the area under the control of the Rural Distrlot Council, 197 visits and inspeptlons were made, and sairples were te^en and submitted to the Bacteriologist for examination. The water levels at Plamborou^ and Plixton vrere well maintained during the year. (7) FACTORIES AND YroRKSHOPS There are 47 factories and workshops on the Register, and 57 inspects ions were made during the year. Infringements of the Acts and Regulations were dealt with in conjunction vd.th the ]\'[inistr!y’b Factories Inspector. (8) SCAVMIING The work of scavenging is now carried out by direct labour in tho Famishes of Plamborough and H^nmanby, and in conneotion with this work 391 vi sits and inspections were made. In the romaining fifteen Parishes, the oolleotion of tins, etc,, was Ccarried out once per quarter by direct labour, with the use of the Council*s ^orry. (9) SUPERVISION OF SEWAGE DISPOSAL WORKS AMD DRAINAGE During the year, 241 visits and inspections were made, and no major diffioultles were encountered, A considerable amount of work was done on the cleansing of dykes under the control of the Council. (10) D^HTTIOUS DISEASES Visits v/ere made In respect of tvTelvo oases of Scarlet Fever which occurred during thn year. Inctruotions were given In all oases, and thorough disinfection of the houses was oarried out, (11) FOOD ijnP DBUSS APT 1938 ■» Sootlon 2k THej?e are now 43 premiaeo registered for tho sals, storage and/or r,aniiifaotu»u of loo-oruam or preserved food. Frequent insjjeotions are mads of the premises, and it Is pleasing to note that any advice given or reconwandat' ions made to tho ov/noro of the piromises is alwoyc v/ell received, in order tQ ir-prove the standard of cleanliness.
