As regards the patients requiring in-patient treatment, the number of cases has increased by 38 on last year’s total, bringing this year’s total for non-tuberculous cases under treatment in the Hospital to 274, and the number of operations performed (excluding minor operations) has increased by 92, bringing the total number of operations performed to 423. When it is borne in mind that we had to record a similar increase last year it will be realised that this Department of the Hospital is a rapidly growing one. In this Department this year, however, I think one side of the work I might particularly stress is that done in the Out-patient Clinics served by the Hospital. Including the recently started Isle of Wight Clinic, which is not in this year’s statistics, there are now 10 of these Clinics. The amount of work undertaken at these Clinics, as will be seen from the sub-joined tables, is becoming increasingly large, and is meeting, we believe, a very real need. A very satisfactory increase
