Many fails had induced me to think that regimen, preparation, and management would do much : that as the difeafe was of an inflam¬ matory kind, a cooling regimen muff certainly for the moft part be reafonable. Some faint effays were made to try how far this fentiment might be juft. But thofe who are the belt acquainted with the firft aphorifm of Hippocrates, will be the firft in juftifying a cautious pro¬ cedure.
