Five grs. of calomel were with great diffi¬ culty got down, and an infufion of fena with manna being prepared, the perfon at¬ tending was defired to give a little and often, till fhe had a ftool. It was very improper that fhe ffiould re¬ main in the houfe where fhe was, on ac¬ count of the family; yet tffere was no poffibility of moving her in her prefent condition. Next morning I was informed fhe had remained in the fame ftupid way the whole night, but was now rather bet¬ ter, and had fpoke more fenfibly, had two ftools, and vomited up fome bilious mat¬ ter. The heat was ftill great, the pulfe quick, and many fmall confluent puftules were out in the face and other parts; this was the third day of her illnefs. I ad- vifed her being got out of bed, and the^ windows to be kept open; but was in doubt whether fhe had flrength enough to he taken into the open air.
