![E. INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD. (a) Milk Supply.—Inspections have continued and improvements have been obtained. One new cowshed was erected during the year. For chemical analysis 15 samples were submitted and all were genuine. A further 5 were lost in transit. Five samples submitted for the phosphatase test were satis¬ factory. 84 samples were submitted for bacteriological examination and only 16 were considered as satisfactory. But it should be stated here that many were delayed in transit and some lost. (b) Meat Inspection.—Your two Sanitary Inspectors maintain close supervision of slaughterhouses, meat shops and vans. Bakehouses.—These were, as in the past, generally maintained in a satisfactory condition. VI. PREVALENCE OF, AND CONTROL OVER, INFEC¬ TIOUS DISEASE.
