A good artificial cuticle, which when spread on the skin M'ill not crack, may bo formed by mixing two parts of glycerine with one hun- dred of collodion.—The otHcinal Collodium I'lexile consists of ono fluid tb-achm of castor oil, one hundred and twenty grains of Canada balsam, and 6 fluid ounces of collodion.—Either preparation maij he used as a varnish in, varioas cutaneous affections, excoriations, or superfici(d burns. Dr. Kichahdson's ''Styptic Colloid may be used in the same ■way. R. Collodii Flexilis, fl. drs. 4 ; llorphias Acotatis, gr. 5—20. Mix. To be painted over the course of the affected nerve in neuralgia. 286. Glycerine and Lime Water, dx. IJ. Cih'cerini, fl. oz. 1; Pulveris Tragacantha; Conipositi, gr. 120 ; Mollis Dcpurati, gr. 120; Liquoris Calcis Saccharati, fl. oz. 1t^- ; Mistu- ram Amygdake, ad fl. oz. 8. ilix. A yood bland embrocation in cases af herpes, superficial burns, cliapped hands, excoriations, <j'c. The officinal Liximextum Calcis, consisting of equal parts of olivo oil and lime water, is also useful iu some of the above-mentioned cases. For chapped hands the Glycekixe of Staech is an excellent pre- paration. IJ. Linimouti Acouiti, fl. drs. 2 ; Linimeuti Calcis, fl. drs. 10. Mix. In vulval pruritus. IJ. Acidi Carbolici, gr. GO—120; Linimeuti Calcis, fl. oz. 8. Mix. To prevent suppuration in burns, dx: 286a. Soda Lotion for Burns. A saturated solution of JSicarbonate of Soda in cold water (about 35 grains to the ounce) has often proved successful in, the treatment of burns and scalds. It is said to allay the pain very rapidly. Lint thoroughly u-i'tted with the saturated solution should be kept constantly on the injured part. 287. Ammonia and Canthar ides, cOc. K. Spirili'is Ammoui;o Aromatici, Spiritfls Eosmarini, Gilyceriui, aa fl. oz. 1 ; Tincturtc Cautharidis, 11. drs. 3—0 ; Aquam Rosas, ad 11. oz. 8. ^lix. To be gently bru,shed in to the scalp night and morning, ivhen the hair i.i falling off after fever or any severe illness. A more elegant embrocation may bo mado by adding two fluid drachms of Tincture of Caiitharidcs to two ouucos of Eau do Cologne. li.
