Description
Atkinson was indicted for perjury in October 1782 as a result of the enquiries of this victualling committee and he was eventually tried and found guilty before the Duke of Mansfield in 1783 and afterwards stood in the pillory in 1785. W. Bennett (without a number in the print) was apparently the author of press attacks on Atkinson. The people within the print are numbered. Among them, no. 1 is the chairman, Samuel Whitbread, and no.12 is Atkinson himself
