    ceeded in producing improvement in eight cases of gastro- intestinal hypotonia with 10 mgm. oral doses of pure vitamin B,. Brown (1936), claims benefit from large doses of the vitamin in ulcerative colitis. Peters (1936) states as his considered opinion that, in every case of failure of appetite, the vitamin B, content of the diet should be considered with a view to correcting any inadequacy. He advises the use of a concentrated preparation, as the natural sources of the vitamin are too dilute for adequate therapy. These are some of the published opinions on the possibilities of vitamin B, therapy in this group of diseases. It will suffice to add that in atonic bowel conditions, and in inflammatory upsets, where B, lack is suspected, the parenteral route of administration is to be advised to preclude faulty absorption. A-Ray Sickness. In cases of X-ray sickness followed by vomiting, Martin and Moursund (1938), recommend Betaxan on the basis of their experimental and clinical experience previous to the use of X-rays. INDICATIONS AND DOSAGE INDICATIONS. In the first group of diseases, where a de- ficiency is known to be present, are : Beri-beri, Alcoholic polyneuritis, and Polyneuritis of pregnancy. In the second group, where a deficiency may be present and where empirical treatment has given good results, are : Toxic polyneuritis. Neuritis of single nerves—e.g., sciatic, brachial, crural or optic neuritis. Neuralgia— intercostal, trigeminal and other forms. Tabes dorsalis (pains), and subacute combined degeneration: Hyperemesis gravidarum.
