HYGIENE AND SANITATION. (i) Mosquito Control. Anti-Mosquito measures included oiling, residual spraying, drainage, tree hole filling, and treating of crab holes with lime and Paris Green. Continued vigilance is exercised and immunisation against Yel¬ low Fever is carried out as frequently as possible. This year 692 inoculal tions were performed. A yellow fever survey was made last year by Drs. MacNamara and Walters of the West African Council for Medical Research, as a result of which funds have been made available for mass inoculation of the Brikama and Bakau areas where the immunity level appeared to be low. (iii) Pest Control. During the year, one confirmed case of rabies was reported in a dog in Bathurst, and a suspected human case occurred in Upper Baddibu District of Central Division. The usual Proclamations were made, and dogs not under control were caught and destroyed.
