    Of the whole of the 15 cases of typhoid fever 13 came from West Hartlepool, and 2 cases from ships. Of the remaining 5 cases, 3 came from ships and 2 from West Hartlepool, Hartlepool not having sent a single case during the year except the small-pox cases above mentioned. The number of cases of small-pox was just double that of the previous year, which was 10. While we had not a single ease of Scarlet Fever this year as against 21 the previous year. 8 deaths occurred in the Hospital during the year, namely :— From Typhoid Fever ... 3 cases „ Small-pox .. ••• 5 8 5 deaths out of 20 patients is a high mortality. Last year we had not a single death from small-pox. It is only right to state that in 4 out of the 5 deaths from small-pox no vaccination scars were visible. Indeed their friends admitted that they had not been vaccinated previously. The Hospital has been kept in good repair having had two coats of tar during the year. Internally it is thoroughly clean and in good condition. The patieuts on leaving, have always expressed themselves well satisfied with the nursing staff.
