Mustard emetics have been recommended at the commencement of the attack of spasmodic cholera. Cautious venesection, in order to re- lieve venous congestion. The circulation and heat must be restored. Calomel in combina- tion with opium. Local blood-letting may- prove beneficial. Fomentations, warm plasters. The primae vise will be greatly benefited by the use of tonics and stomachic bitters. An enema made with three quarters of a pint of warm water, two table spoonsful of olive oil, two or three grains of opium, and one drachm of assafoetida, forms an injection which relieves pain. ^ Sulp. quini. gr. ij.
