In different experiments it was given 2*, 3*, and 6i hours before tie alcohol, and it will be noticed that the depressing effect was most obvious in the 2\ hours experiment, and became smaller and more nearly approaching the control (hungry) state with lapse of time, so that after 6* hours the bread and milk had but little effect. Against dilution of the alcohol by ? bIfad and miIk bein£ the explanation are the facts : 1. 1 hat the effect is much greater than has been observed by diluting alcohol. y 2. The effect on the alcohol contents of the blood is seen ^evera ours after the meal, when it is almost certain that most ot the fluid will have been absorbed.
